This scripture is one of expressing the importance of unity. Whether in families, in those in recovery, and battles of all sorts. However the most relevent situation for me is in our battle against evil, pushing through as christians to fight for our God.
There are many situations in our lives where we find ourselves battling against the evils of this world. Alone we have no chance to escape our enemy, however if just one other would stand next to us(back to back) it adds more strength and confidence to attempt to defeat the evil attacking us. With three standing together there is more strength, more confidence. But there is also a nearly unbreakable force of good that evil cannot simply destroy. I look at it like this. I am in recovery, and alone I am sure to fall. With one more beside me, I have a better chance to not fall, and when another person battling recovery comes along, the bond, or the threefold cord allows God to give us stength, we are highly likely to prevail, and not fall.
The most important issue today for christians is spiritual warfare againt the evils of this world, the devil. We christians are soldiers for God and His word, For Jesus Christ. But the devil has his lost souls and wicked doers as soldiers that prepared to battle in order to dishonor our Lord and corrupt those still lost. This battle has been going on for centuries, however the current state of the world is far worse than ever before, the end coming very soon.
As we christians are out spreading the Word, and saving souls the evil ones are attempting to lure those lost souls with promises of worldy power, pleasures, and even putting poisonous thoughts in their minds of worthlessness, undeserving of any kind of redemption. Making sin look like fun and christianity as boring, and unlikely to be real at all.
When one group stands to fight for God, they could be defeated, but when another group of christian soldiers joins this battle, many battles are one, however adding a third group of our soldiers allows a real chance to conquer the wicked in a tremendous way.
Take that into consideration, then realize that all over the world there are threefold cords....groups of christians fighting for God and His word, saving souls, bringing the lost to their Savior, Jesus Christ. Though the devil has many soldiers on his side, there is no better weapon than the strength we have through Christ. The holy spirit is within each of us to ensure our protection from tempations and constantly reminds us of God's will for us and all those who believe in Jesus.
Let us remember daily that no one should be left alone to battle, even if one more joins, we can fight and stay strong, but with the threefold cord, and God's strenght, we can and will conquer all evil. Also remember the last we are guaranteed that Jesus wins. Our battle will end in victory.
