What hath the wind wrought
Look and see, and comfort me
About what the wind has brought
Problems and despair – over here a chair
Look beyond and see, and comfort me
A man lying over there
No life in him, only problems and despair
Who is he? Are you aware
Why so violently the wind did blow?
Look beyond and see, and comfort me
A house torn from its foundation,
The roof far away from its location
Only problems and despair
Who will help heal this nation?
Look beyond and see, and comfort me
High overhead the watermarks show
How fiercely the wind did blow
Leaving its footprints mired with mud
Who can repair this great devastation?
Look beyond and see, and comfort me
Listen! The water laps against the rubbish
Created by the storm
Who has the energy to view the tempest?
Willing to count the dead and the injured?
Look beyond and see, and comfort me
Vast and unwelcoming is this devastation
Where can we live in this wasteland of ruin?
Damage beyond imagination lies ahead
Who is able to end the frustration?
Look beyond and see, and comfort me
I don’t understand why such devastation
But I know, my Lord, only you can comfort me
