"You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God." 1 Peter 2.9.
We are chosen by God. Selected by Him before the world began. It is an awesome privilege to know God and astonishing how detailed His plan is for each one of us individually.
We are royal priests. Royal because God our heavenly Father is royal and as His children that makes us royal. The sort of priesthood we have is like the one Jesus had for his earthly life.
Like Jesus, we also have one spiritual head, God the Father. Jesus said, "Do not call anyone on earth 'father', for you have one Father, and he is in heaven." Matthew 23.9. We have constant direct access to God through Jesus's death, burial and resurrection. He mediated the way for us and is always with us to assist us with our earthly lives and struggles.
Collectively we will live in a new country, heaven. On earth we have many countries, many passports, but in heaven we will only have one country and the criteria for entry is freely given by Jesus. So now, we ought to live as if we are already heaven's people. Speaking, thinking and living like them. As far as our earthly lives and tests allow us. We are so blessed to be counted worthy of heaven and know it for sure in advance. Not everyone gives thought to the afterlife.
We have a lot to look forward to in heaven. No trials, no evil, rewards for Godly living on earth, justice, recompence, the presence of God felt always, a more alive faith, new youthfulness, well-being, reunions with loved ones, absence of enemies, full understanding of queries about the afterlife not yet answered and much more.
