THE EXPLANATION OF THE BEAST’S DOMAIN
By Henry Jaegers
“While I was contemplating the horns, behold another horn, a little horn ,came up among them, and three of the first horns were pulled out by the roots before it; and behold this horn possessed eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth that uttered great boasts” (Daniel 7;8)
In this verse we have five characteristics that describe the authority given to the beast.
First: He had ten horns: Elsewhere these ten horns are described and they speak about the realm of his authority. Ten other kingdoms will be part of his. He will not be alone.
Second: A little horn shall arise out of those ten: This little horn would be given special notice because of his strength. He will be small but effective and powerful..
Third: This little horn will overthrow three of the ten kings, completely destroying their influence. They will be plucked up by the roots. That means the source of their power will be destroyed making them unable to return to their former state.
Fourth: It had the eyes of a man. This is further explained in verses 20, 21. His look was more than his fellows and he understood “dark things”, He will give the impression of having superior wisdom and understanding above others in his realm.
Fifth: He will utter great words. They are described elsewhere as boastful words. These are words coming from his arrogance and they include blasphemous words against God. They are called great because they are words that no other man would dare to speak.
As we continue we will examine more details about this beast
