Sunday 3/25/12 Pastor Michael sermon= The Power of My Praise: An Audience of One Psalm 34:1-8
=========================================================================
The whole book of Psalm are songs of praise unto God. These psalms/songs have an audience of one - God. Most of them were written by David as he is running from Saul. David discovered the power of his praise to God. God does not change, our relationship with God should not change and our praise to God should not change! Praise has brought us thru some bad times in our life. David writes this song of praise when he is hiding in a cave from Saul. David says for us to…………..>>
1) Praise God at All Times.
David said “I” will praise the lord at all times. David’s praise was not conditional, not just in good times. There is no effort in praising in good times. David said ALL times. In the bad times too. Our praise stays consistent thru ALL times. Praise keeps us sane. The power of praise has kept us going, will keep us going.
2 Bless the Lord at All times.
In front of anybody, we should bless the Lord at all times. But….some people are “sophisticated” and want to be cool in front of folk. We should praise God no mater who is there. Our praise is based on the relationship we have with God! Later in time, King David praised God and danced right out of his clothes!
3) Praise is Contagious.
The power of praise is contagious. When we have a relationship with the Lord, our power of praise is contagious and people catch it from us! Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Praise God! We should be people who don’t mind when others see how much we love God.
4) Praise God Through the Tough Times.
vs. 3 Oh magnify the Lord with me. We can either magnify our problems or magnify the Lord! David’s magnifying glass was his mouth. We praise God loudly and make God bigger than any problem we have. Magnify the Lord! When we do this, God will rescue us and build a refuge for us. God protects us.
5) The Power of Praise will let us Know when Its Our Time.
vs. 7 The angel of the Lord encamps around us. The angels show up where there is praise. Whatever has been messing with us, the angels are there to take care of it all! vs. 8 Oh taste and see that the Lord is good. God lets David see what is going to happen in the future, that he is to be king! David’s praise has given him a glimpse of his future. God shifts David’s season before his circumstances shifted. David’s praise was pre-praise for the season change and for the circumstance change before it manifested. When praise goes up, revelations come down. Give God praise for our new season! Give God praise for our new season!
AMEN!!
