Who Are You Listening To

Whom are you listening to?
In the beginning God created the word and the word was with God and the word was God. There is a
Name (a Word) that is above every name, and at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow. The word is so vitally important it gives man direction, teaches, and shows man how to live in every situation. When the pressures of this world overwhelm us the word brings peace, in John chapter 14 and verse 27 the word states: Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. In layman terms: when the doctor gives you a bad report the peace of God lets you know that you belong to him, you are a citizen of heaven, a royal priesthood, and the apple of God’s eye. When God tells us that we are the apple of his eye; He is saying that He thinks of you as his champion, He is bragging on you just as He did with JOB when the devil made the comment to God that Job only worships him (God) because of God’s many blessings. The Book of Job tells us how wrong the Devil is. The word lets man know whether he lives or dies he belongs to God; the word tells us that God has us in the palm of his hand and nothing can pluck us from it. The word speaks to us and asks “Is there anything to hard for God?”

I lost my job on August 6th, 2011 and like many Americans have been going through the process of sending resumes, doing phone interviews, and face to face interviews. I have been on unemployment for almost six months presently, and each month I do not make enough to pay my debts. I keep praying and I hear the word of God saying: I will make a way when there seems to be no way; and every month we have paid our obligations; to God we give the glory and praise. One month we had to sell my wife Debbie’s gold necklace, another month we re-financed our car, and the next month we sold the car for a profit and bought a new vehicle, so what the devil meant for bad the Lord has turned into good.
Out of the hundreds of resumes sent out I have received hundreds of rejections politely stating that another candidate was selected. Every day I start my computer and search for possible job opportunities, search the Sunday paper job ads, and contact job agencies. With Christmas two weeks away money is tight and continually I tell myself to focus positively, but days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months, and still no job. Depression and worries bring sadness and tears, but the word restores my soul; the word brings joy and peace that passes all understanding. The enemy of my soul speaks to my mind and tells me I am finished, no one is going to hire you, you are too old, you are too fat, and you are going to lose everything; God is mad at you for your past iniquities. But the Holy Spirit speaks to my mind with the word; I hear the Holy Spirit saying: whom are you listening to? I know my thoughts about you and they are thoughts of peace and love. I even I, am he who blots out your transgressions and will remember them no more. If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation, old things are passed away all things are new. The word of God tells us that: God almighty knows us by name, he numbers the hairs on our head and by the willing sacrifice of Jesus (what the Lord did at the cross) we are redeemed. The Lord has moved mountains for me, allowed me to earn a Master’s degree in business administration, and I know that I will have a job soon; his word tells me that joy comes in the morning.

My wife Debra and I have been married for 38 years. A couple of weeks before Christmas 2011, Debra received a bad mammogram report and after a biopsy it was confirmed that she has breast cancer in her right breast. My family has been overwhelmed. If I allowed the enemy to tell me about all the bad things happening or that could happen it would not take long to become depressed, but I just want to put the devil on notice; he is a liar and the father of liars, and his time is short. My wife and I are washed in the blood of Jesus; whether we live or die we belong to God. It is our belief that by the stripes of Jesus we are healed. The bible tells us One can put a thousand to flight, but two can put ten thousand to flight (Deuteronomy 32:30). There are many people of faith praying for my family and the word says: if you have the faith of a grain of mustard seed, you can say to a mountain be removed and it will be removed; nothing shall be impossible, and God has moved mountains for me. The God we serve is the same God that freed the Hebrew children, parted the red sea, provided manna from heaven, and water from a rock. This water still flows to this day – I have personally been there and seen it with my own eyes. The God we serve is water in a dry place, shelter from the storm, the balm of Gilead, the sacrificial lamb, Alfa and Omega, the beginning and the end, the lion of Juda, the great I am, Jehovah-Jireh our provider, Jehovah-Nissi our banner of love and protection, Jehovah-Shalom our peace, Jehovah-Tsid-Kenu our righteousness, Jehovah-Shammah the one who is with us everywhere for He is Omnipresent, Jehovah-Sabaoth the Lord of Hosts, Jehovah-Raah our Shepherd who tenderly leads us, loves us and will keep us safe, Jehovah-Rapha the Lord our Healer; He is the author and finisher of our faith, his word is sharper than any two edge sword, he walks on the water, raises the dead, opens blind eyes, makes the deaf to hear, he speaks to the wind and sea-and they obey, he is the creator of heaven and earth, and will not suffer the righteous to be moved; He is my Lord and Savior who makes me to lie down in green pastures, and leads me beside the still waters, He restores my soul: He leads me in the path of righteousness for his name sake. Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. The Lord prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: God anoints my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And then I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever (23 Psalms). Praise God in the highest!

The Bible tells me that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and everything else will be added unto you. If you diligently seek Him you will find Him. I have heard the sweet voice of the Holy Spirit, and I know my Redeemer lives – I speak in a heavenly language, and I have experienced what felt like a bolt of lightning go through my body while in worship of God. It is too late to try to convince me that God is not exactly what the Bible says He is; just as I know the sky is blue, I know God is with me and He will never leave me or forsake me. God is sovereign – God all by himself and He is faithful even when I am not – thank you Holy Father.

When asked “which is the greatest commandment?” Jesus replied, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." (Matt22:37-40) Pray for one another, for your neighbors, your pastor, church, country, and this sinful planet earth. Pray for our leaders in Washington, our troops in foreign lands, and local governments.

The word tells me that it is appointed once unto man to die. Now, you might be John Wayne or the roughest, toughest man that walked the earth, but when the doctor tells you that you have cancer… reality hits you right between the eyes and ears. Most Christians are planning on going to heaven, but not today. I don’t know anyone who wants to die, but the reality is this mortal body will die. The good news is we that are in Christ will put on another body; corruption shall put on incorruption. Just as there are many types of flesh, such as beef, chicken, and fish; we will have a new body, a heavenly body; the word says we shall see him (God) as he is, and we shall be like him. The word tells us that Lazarus died and had been dead four days, but Jesus showed up on the fourth day. Martha, the sister of Lazarus, met Jesus coming toward the house and said: Lord, if you would have been hear my brother would not have died. But I know, that even now, whatever you ask of God, God will give it to you. Jesus said to Martha, your brother shall rise again. Martha replied, I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said to Martha, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Believe thou this? Martha replied yes Lord, and Jesus called Lazarus by name from the grave, and he rose from the dead (Bible, John 11). When the day comes that we breathe our last breath, the word tells us it is not the end, but the beginning of eternal life through Jesus Christ. This is great news, and not only will the saints of God live eternally, but while we are on this planet the Lord promises to never leave us nor to forsake us. Jesus, sits at the right hand of God interceding for you and me. Jesus has gone to heaven to prepare a place for us, and he will return again, that where he is we can be also.

So, who is like this King of glory? There is none like him that promises eternal life, who gave his life so you and I might be saved. Who among us can hang a planet in space and make it rotate around the sun? Who can make an ocean and measure the distance it is allowed to go? Who can create the mighty Alps? Who can breathe life into the nostrils of all living things? Who can make the lame to walk? Who can make the dumb to talk? Who can open the blind eye or the deaf ear? The answer is: JESUS. Whom are you listening to? For me and my house we will serve the Lord, and him only will we serve. His words are tested and true; no one has been able to prove the word wrong, and they never will. His word says: Heaven and Earth shall pass away but my word shall never die, and it never has. This word has been instructing man for thousands of years. Man’s rules have changed over time, but God is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow. If we took this word into our present – day court room in an attempt to try and prove its validity; would we be able to do so? In today’s court system there is basically a judge, jury, prosecutor, defense, and witnesses. If there are two or three witnesses that point a finger at you, and state that they witnessed you doing something, such as committing a crime; this weighs heavily on the jury, and most likely you are going to be found guilty because of the eye-witness testimony. Well, there were at least 500 witnesses that seen Jesus after the resurrection, and there are many people living today that can attest to being miraculously healed by Jesus. I personally talked with such a man that was in a wheel chair for 16 years and got out of the wheel chair during an alter call at church, because of Jesus. I personally know a man that had an inoperable brain tumor the size of a lemon that Jesus healed, and the doctors were amazed and left wondering where the tumor went upon doing a second brain scan. I know of a mission team that went to Romania and witnessed a woman blind from birth receive her sight. I was not there to see it myself, but there are people I know that tell me things and you know their testimony is true, such as my Mother – If my Mother tells you something you can take it to the bank. My friend and former Pastor Doctor Sam Luke is another person that you can trust to tell the truth. There are certain people that you just know what they say is truthful – I don’t know how else to say it – I hope someone hearing this understands what I am saying, maybe it is discernment of spirit. Doctor Luke has witnessed so many miracles in his ministry, such as the lame walking and the blind eye opened – all true events that should make the saints rejoice. The word of God is true and I dare anyone to try and prove it otherwise. Our laws originated from the word, what we eat and how we should eat is in the word, how we judge and punish law breakers is in the word, how to pray and what to pray is in the word; everything for righteous living is in the word.

My Wife and I wept this afternoon because the doctor has recommended chemotherapy. I don’t know why this is happening to us - I don’t know a lot of things that happen in this world, but I know the One that does – JESUS.
