United States Army Chaplain Gary Brandon, during his sermon while stationed in Iraq, discussed his vision of a partnership with God.
As Chaplain Brandon talked about Scripture, many soldiers present reported his words brought the Word of God alive and meaning to the Gospel he referenced.
“Throughout Scripture God does His part then asks each believer to do their part. If God wanted, He could do everything for us Himself or send as many angels as needed to accomplish whatever has to be done. That would leave humanity with nothing to do. Would that not be a terrible situation? But God gave humanity water, air, land, ores, chemicals and many others things then endowed his creation with imagination, intelligence, the ability to reason and rationalize so that humankind could make large communities, tools, manufacturing plants, vehicles to sail the seven seas or leave the comforts of the earth to explore and discover His universe and beyond.
Through His Scriptures, God has told and continues to tell humanity ‘I will put life into a cotton seed to make it grow but you must harvest it then weave it into cloth. I will cause the sun to rise, you cannot do it. I do this to make fruit bearing trees produce. However, you must pick the fruits.’
God also said, ‘I have given you the Good News to share with each other. I’ve also given you enough information to know who I am and what I expect of you. I gave humanity the road map to happiness, joy and successful living. The only thing I’ve ask you to do is to tell others about Me and not keep the Good News to yourself. Really, is that so difficult?
Lastly, you have the freedom to decide. I’ll never force you to decide. To force you is not love and I am love.’
What a great privilege to be daughters and sons and to be His children in a partnership not as servant!” Chaplain Brandon declared.
