As I read one of my devotionals this morning, I began to think about some things which I believe I have never thought about in depth.
How many times have we thought about Jesus coming again as his coming as a thief in the night? Well, of course, I have heard this many times, but today, it took on new meaning.
After having the experience of having our home robbed, while we were on our way home from our Arizona home, thievery took on a new meaning.
Yes, thieves broke into our home, but they didn’t even enter in at “another way,” they entered by completely breaking the door down with a sledge hammer, or some other large tool. As I meditated on this fact, I thought how Jesus had broken down the barriers of my heart, the things which I didn’t want to release, and then he led me in a different path.
Of course the thieves took many things. Those things which had sentimental meaning to me were the most painful, but when Jesus comes as a thief in the night, He will also take only souls which are of great price, but He has paid that price for each and every one. Jesus will pick up nothing but the souls of His people who are faithful to Him.
If we had known a thief was going to rob us of our possessions, I am sure that the “special, sentimental, things would have been placed in someone’s care.
Praise God, the most important thing we have, is the only thing Jesus will be looking for. We need to be ready and willing at any moment for His return.
Will you be one of his redeemed treasures when he comes, or will you even hear His shout when He comes unexpectedly for His own? There is no second chance. Like our earthly treasures, there is not another moment to take care of them, they are gone forever. When Jesus calls for you, will you make the right choice? I repeat, there is no second chance.
