The Spirit of Deception

Many pretend to be your friend, many pretending are kin folks, and some are close family. Why is this? Well what better people for the Devil to use that will hurt us the most? The Devil uses the closest people to us for that very same reason. I imagine Jesus in the flesh did hurt at the fact that Peter would deny knowing Him three times although it was he God revealed who Jesus was to. I can imagine that although he knew Judas would betray Him it hurt most because Jesus had to have known that he would take his own life and bust hell open for his deed if he did not repent going down. Jesus did come to redeem man from sin that we would have eternal life. He brought forth spiritual life not death.

The spirit of deception is a dishonest spirit. It consists of trickery, craftiness, treachery, betrayal, pretense, deceit, and duplicity along with dishonesty. When we misrepresent a truth we commit deception. Deception starts in the mind and works to the heart that whatever is to be performed is brought. We must not give ourselves over to cunningness and insincerity. Deception involves misleading words and actions, swindling, deluding, defrauding, victimization, betraying, hoodwinking, duping, fleecing, and bilking. There are a lot of steps to go through to become deceptive. By the time we get to the point of being deceptive it means we have not dealt with our demons but allowed them to have residence. We have died to the Spirit of God and allowed something else to take control of our motives and intents. The simple little lie on a piece of paper no one knows about is still a lie from the heart; thatís dangerous.

Psalm 32:2 blessed is the man unto whom the Lord (Jehovah) imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. We know that iniquity is hidden sin acted out of an indiscreet heart and misguided mind. We find ourselves doing rash tactless things at random that cause chaos. Iniquity is also the Devilís avenue to the heart of man. When we find ourselves doing evil, injustices, wicked and wrongful acts towards another for our own selfish reasons to control one we have fallen from grace. We have been deceived through charm and seduced where we disarm ourselves of the Holy Ghost whom we need to fight the evil one for us. Now because we have done this evil and wants to blame Satan we are not exempt from the guilt. So us asking for forgiveness and giving forgiveness must be sincere and to the glory of God. Sincerity should characterize our love for God and Jesus. Not only that but it characterizes our services done in His name in honor of Him. Our love for one another, our faith, our whole conduct, and the preaching of the gospel comes under attack that Satan can render it void. We are to therefore keep our hearts clean and subjected to the Holy Ghost in sincerity and truth. Paul in II Corinthians 1:12 for our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that is simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward. In all things we are to show a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity, and sincerity. Sound speech that cannot be condemned that he that is on the contrary part may be ashamed having no evil thing to say of you.

What is again I say is our motives for doing and saying a thing? Have we defrauded our neighbor, done unrighteousness in judgment, have we oppressed and been vain in decisions? Jeremiah says in Jeremiah 22:13 woe unto him that builds his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that uses his neighbors service without wages. It is the wicked that works a deceitful work. Be not a witness against our neighbor without cause and deceive not with our lips. We have to be very careful to tell the truth and not lie. Doctoring up the books is a lie to an Accountant and when we do it we are of our father the Devil. We dissemble with our lips and lay up deceit within our hearts therefore seven abominations are in our hearts. Satan has come in and made residence in our hearts. So then our heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked and who can know it but God? This is the reason God judges us according to whatís in our hearts; man looks on the outer appearance but God looks on the heart of man and judge thereby.

Galatian 6:3 for if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Satan thought he was more than he was and was kicked out of heaven. He thought God would render into his hands His Creation because he deceived Adam and beguiled Eve. Abraham lied and said Sarah was his sister and almost caused the King to sin. Joseph brothers told their father that Joseph was dead at the hands of a wild beast and brought the coat with blood on it to prove the lie. Jacob and his mother deceived his father in giving Jacob Esauís birthright with the smell of a piece of meat. Delilah deceived Samson to find out the reason for his strength. David feigned madness, Amnon deceived Tamar by feigning sickness, and Absalom deceived Amnon when he avenged his sister Tamar. We can look and see a lot of deception that went on in the Word of God but they are there for us; to help us understand that there is no good that comes out of being deceptive.

How long will we halt between doing the God thing as opposed to doing a good thing. There is no comparison. The God thing to do is to please God. The good thing to do is to please man. When we take an O out of good we still find that it is not as large as God. Most times all we end up with is an O. Being truthful, honest, trustworthy and honorable before the Lord is the God thing to do. Being a liar, deceptive, a thief, and robber of Godís people is the good we do for the Devil.

The spirit of deception brings death to the believer. Stop being deceived today for God knows all things and we will be held accountable for what we know and donít know. We have a responsibility to know the truth that we may be set free. The entire ministry of Jesus was under the direction and power of the Holy Spirit. Satan tried to tempt Jesus so why do we think we are exempt from deception? God wants to fill us with His Spirit in wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship. Godís Word is to help us fulfill his Will along with the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost speaks the Word to us that has been revealed and recorded by God for our knowing. We are to study the Word so that we know. We will not be exempt from accountability for not having knowledge of God, His Word, and His Spirit. Satan knows; how do we think he is so effective in his work? Look around us he tries hard every day to keep us from reading the Word of God. He distracts the children from learning to read and the people that can read, tells them you donít need all of that!

Look around and be aware of the spirits operating around you. Pretense is the greatest act Satan does because he deceives even his own self.
