By my side I didn’t see it was You all along
I wasn’t myself, therefore I wasn’t strong
Enough to accept the fact that I belong
In a chord of a melody in Your love song
I couldn’t hear Your Spirit working to heal
My decisions not honest and far from leal
Putting up walls I was trying to conceal
Vulnerability, responsibility, anything real
Pushing You away feeling I didn’t deserve
Goodness in front of me I couldn’t observe
Fearing all the emotions I held in reserve
An old unhappy me I managed to preserve
Now learning to be honest I make this clear
What others think I care less how I appear
Walking the sturdy road of integrity I steer
Intently focusing my love for You I revere
In the name Jesus Christ release my chain
On this path of truthfulness I won’t refrain
From spreading The Word states to ordain
To the ends of the earth all of Your domain.
