Frances Irene Davis. I knew Frances for a few short years through my co-working together with her son, Charlie Davis a member of Berean Baptist and also a member of The Wabash Valley Music Hall of Fame. Charlie is a good ole boy who loves Jesus. His Mother passed on Sunday past nearly instantly at the age of 98 years. Having been a character for most of my life, I seem to be a magnate for others of similar stripe.
Frances was an exciting member of the First Baptist Church of Rockville for over 70 years. When she and her husband, Charles married back in 1930, they "hoboed" by freight train down to old Mexico, where they joined Dr. Sheets' traveling medicine show. The show consisted of a team of horses and a wagon. Charley would play the guitar while Frances danced and then Dr. Sheets would sell his wonder cure all. When they came back to Parke County they lived in a tent for over a year and then bought what would be their home in Wildman's Holler where Frances lived for 70 years. My friend Charley still lives on the property.
The information is from the obituary published in the Tribune Star here in Terre Haute, IN 3-13-12. I will officiate at the life celebration this Friday.
You would be on point if you concluded that being a friend of Larry is not for the faint of heart, dull of mind or of Pharisaical character. But Jesus does love me.
