I wrote this poem as I pondered the question, "What must God think?" after the horrific attack on the United States on 9-11-01. I turned to God in prayer as I watched the nation and the world do the same. I wept as millions of tears combined with my own.
I knew that God was crying for us, too.
It is with tremendous hope, for the sake of the loved ones left behind, that they believe the family members and friends they lost are safe in the loving arms of our Father. I also pray that people, in their despair, do not blame God for the acts of man. I know that it's sometimes natural to do when we are faced with something of this magnitude - or with any tragedy. But, God gave us free will and sadly, there are those who use it for evil and destruction. What we can do is join in prayer and gather the strength we need from God to get through this time of great struggle.
My heart goes out to each and every person who suffered a loss and my tears and prayers are for them and for the world.
What Must God Think?
I see them weep
I hear their cries
as soot of death
fills blue skies
I gave them life
a glorious brain
and some use it-
kill in My name
Oh, do they know
these tearful souls
that not to I
should the blame go
Man I did create
with a free will
hoping they'd Love
yet some, they kill
I wipe your tears
as you look to the sky
and curse my name
and ask me "Why?"
I also see
amongst the grief
hearts full of Love
to give relief
I see My people
of whom I'm proud
help one another
amidst the crowd
I see you gather
in crowds to pray
and I do hear
each word you say
