We are told in 2 Timothy 2:15—“Be diligent to present yourself APPROVED TO GOD, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." Well with that in mind let's take a look at the Jesus who says, "Behold, I am coming as a thief", in comparison with the Jesus where we read, "So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him HE WILL APPEAR A SECOND TIME, APART FROM SIN, FOR SALVATION. I believe there are some very interesting aspects to be looked at in the word regarding these issues. So to start let’s look at the Scripture found in the gospel of John; John 10:7—Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. (8) “All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. (9) “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. (10) “THE THIEF does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I HAVE COME THAT THEY MAY HAVE LIFE, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Now if we take these Scriptures and view them in the light of these next Scriptures we see…Revelation 3:1—“And to the angel of THE CHURCH in Sardis write, ‘These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. (2) “Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God. (3) “Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore IF YOU WILL NOT WATCH,
I WILL COME UPON YOU AS A THIEF, and you will not know what hour I will come UPON YOU.” I find it very interesting, that here it is the church that He is exhorting to watch, lest He will come upon the church as a thief.
If we take these next Scriptures found in Joel and view them in the light of what we have already read we will find some other things of interest. Joel 2:9—They run to and fro in the city, they run on the wall; they climb into the houses, they enter AT THE WINDOWS (not the door) like A THIEF (11) The Lord gives voice before His army, for His camp is very great; for strong is the One who executes His word. For the day of the Lord is great and very terrible; who can endure it? (12) “Now, therefore,” says the Lord, “Turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” (13) So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful; slow to anger, and of great kindness; and He relents from doing harm. (14) Who knows if He will turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind Him—
Well, if we compare these Scriptures to the ones found in Malachi, we find this…Malachi 4:5—Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. (6) And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.” That sounds very encouraging to me! We need to stand in the gap for all of our unsaved children and intercede for them before the throne of God, that they may have a hope and a future. These next Scriptures that we are going to look at just do not reconcile with these which we have just read, nor do they reconcile with the word which says, “His mercy endures forever.”
Isaiah 12:4—The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like that of many people! A tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together! The Lord of hosts musters the army for battle, (5) They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the Lord and His weapons of indignation, TO DESTROY THE WHOLE LAND. (The thief cometh not but for to kill to steal and to destroy.) Let’s deviate from course for just a moment to look at this next Scripture. Ezekiel 22:30—“So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. Well interestingly enough, I am not a man, but I am a mother and after reading these next scriptures, I am sorry, I can not say, “Even so Lord Jesus come.” His mercy certainly did not endure to these next Scriptures which we are going to look at!
Returning to Isaiah chapter twelve verse nine we read; Behold, the day of the Lord comes, cruel, with both wrath and fierce anger to lay the land desolate; and He will destroy its sinners from it. (10) For the stars of heaven and their constellations will not give their light; The sun will be darkened in its going forth, and the moon, will not cause its light to shine. That should cause great concern to the Christian in itself, if we compare this to what we read in Jeremiah. Jeremiah 33:20—“Thus says the Lord: ‘If you can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that there will not be day and night in their season, (21) ‘THEN MY COVENANT MAY ALSO BE BROKEN WITH DAVID My servant, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levites, the priest, My ministers. That certainly presents some food for thought!
Returning to Isaiah once again, let’s now look at the Scripture that makes me shudder to the bone. Isaiah 13:16—Their children also will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be plundered and their wives ravished. Well, I don’t know about you, but I am going to go with the verses that I read in Malachi concerning the day of the Lord in regards to the children.
I dare not take much more space on this article, but there is something regarding the book of Revelation that I find of utmost interest, that I would like to share with you. Revelation has to be dealt with very carefully and prayerfully, with the help of the Holy Spirit because…Revelation 22:18—For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book; If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; (19) and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. Well, that should be enough to put the fear of God in anybody right? Still and all I had to question God very seriously concerning the matters of this book, because it troubled me most deeply. Now I am going to share with you what I find to be of the utmost interest.
We will begin by looking at Revelation 1:1—The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, (2) who bore witness of Jesus Christ, and to all things that he saw. (3) Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the word of this prophecy, AND KEEP THOSE THINGS WHICH ARE WRITTEN IN IT; for the time is near. I just had to ask God, why He would even want to keep those things written in this book, because most of them are very frightening?
Well I am sure that it was by the Spirits urging that I was led to look up the meaning of the word KEEP, and this is what I found:
(“World Book Encyclopedia Dictionary” KEEP; 1. to have for a long time or forever; continue to hold: you may keep this book. 2. To have and not let go of; retain under one’s control: 3. to hold back; restrain: what is keeping her? 4. Archaic. Care; watching; custody) I found this to be very interesting, thinking, maybe He is wanting us to keep this as a reminder of what could be? Also these next Scriptures are indeed very interesting when we look at them in the light of this….
Psalm 12:5—“For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, NOW I WILL ARISE,” says the Lord; I will set him in the safety for which he yearns.”
(6) The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. (17) YOU SHALL KEEP THEM, O LORD. You shall PRESERVE THEM FROM THIS GENERATION FOREVER. Now compare this to Revelation 1:15—His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; (16) He had in His right hand seven stars, (Note: verse 20—The mystery of the seven stars—are the angels of the seven churches.) out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength.
Finally, let’s compare what we just read to Revelation 22:7—“Behold, I am coming quickly! “Blessed is He who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” (8) Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. (9) Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.” (10) And he said to me; DO NOT SEAL THE WORDS OF THE PROPHECY OF THIS BOOK, for the time is at hand. I must say, after reading that my heart just sank, and again, I had to ask the Lord why? Why would you NOT WANT to seal the words of the prophecy of this book? So once again, I was prompted to check the dictionary and see what I could find.
(World Book Encyclopedia Dictionary” SEAL: 1. a design stamped on a piece of wax or other soft material, to show OWNERSHIP or AUTHENTICITY; 2. a stamp for marking things with such a design: 3. a thing that fastens or closes something tightly. 4. something that secures; pledges 5. Something that settles or determines; the seal of authority. A. to mark a document with a seal: the deed was signed, sealed, and delivered. B. to make binding by affixing seals; authenticate. C. to close tightly; fasten shut. D. to fix firmly; to set apart; decide beyond recall.) Well, then if this book is not sealed then I guess that means it is not set in stone?
While I was at it I thought it might be interesting to see what the definition of the word LOOSE would be, considering Revelation 5:9—and they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your Blood. We have heard so much about these seals and their meanings, but look at what the definition of loose means:
(“World Book Encyclopedia Dictionary”) LOOSE: 1. not firmly set or fastened. 2. not strict, close, or exact; Well, I think that about covers all that I want to share here, but I would like to close with these final Scriptures.
John 6:27—(Jesus speaking) Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, BECAUSE GOD THE FATHER HAS SET HIS SEAL ON HIM. Finally let’s compare this to what we find in the book of Joel: Joel 1:15—Alas for the day! For the day of the Lord is at hand; It shall come as DESTRUCTION from the Almighty is not the food cut off before our eyes, joy and gladness in the house of our God? John 6:32—but My Father gives you the TRUE BREAD from heaven. (33) “For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” Now let’s look at this in the light of Psalm 92:3—YOU TURN MAN TO DESTRUCTION, and say, “Return, O children of men (4) For a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night. Let’s look at this in the light of Isaiah 10:22—For though your people, O Israel, be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them will return; THE DESTRUCTION DECREED SHALL OVERFLOW WITH RIGHTEOUSNESS. (23) For the Lord God of hosts will make a determined end in the midst of all the land. Psalm 148:1-5, is stating the heavens, heights, angels; hosts! Sun, moon, and stars all praising the Lord. (5) Let them praise the name of the Lord, for He commanded and they were created. (6) He has also established them forever and ever; He has made a decree which shall not pass away.
Psalm 2:7—I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, You are My Son. Today I have begotten You. (8) Ask of me, and I will give you the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession. Psalm 22:27—All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations shall worship before You. (28) For the kingdom is the Lords, and He rules over the nations.
Well, I have shared with you the very inmost of my being and my labors in the word. I labor continuously seeking God’s salvation for mankind, because He is longsuffering, and it is His will that none should perish, and that all should come to the knowledge of the truth. May God bless you all!
