I stand here lamenting
From all the sin I’ve done.
I stand here trembling
In front of the Holy One.
How can I be pardoned
Can’t stop the things I do?
I think You have given up.
Sins pain I’m going through.
Bitter tears flow from my eyes
Burning up my soul.
These sins always plague me
Destroying all I hold.
My sins like a broken record
Happen o’re and o’re.
I’m here in my weakened state
Behind this darkened door.
It may appear I’m lying
You perceive what’s in my heart.
You know attempts have failed
Doomed from the very start.
Each time I am repentant
It echoes down the hall.
Within the next two seconds
I forget it all.
I’m glad God’s forgiving
I’m glad He understands.
He dusts off each sinner
He’s there to lend a hand.
