my child with Down Syndrome,

more from me he needs,
for each goal he succeeds.
How to have realistic expectations,
my child with Down Syndrome,
has taught me,
more compassion and support I see,
bringing out the best he can be.
How to accept others,
my child with Down Syndrome,
has taught me,
more understanding and change,
no longer fearing what is strange.
How to love greatly,
my child with Down Syndrome,
has taught me,
more seeing the happy not the sad,
looking for good not the bad.
How to trust God more,
my child with Down Syndrome,
has taught me,
more struggles, trials and tests,
in God's hands my soul rests.
How to be more friendly,
my child with Down Syndrome,
has taught me,
more waves, smiles, hugs and kisses,
no one looking at him misses.
How to have more fun,
my child with Down Syndrome,
has taught me,
more laughter and joy,
from being the mother of this boy.
