Surely God has a plan for everyman at a specific time. Everything looks beautiful according to His timing and purpose. He has a good plan for everyman He had created (Jer 29:11).This plan may be delayed but not denied. Too often, we try to hasten our God-given destiny out of impatience. This brings us into great calamities and makes our future look farther than ever. Be warned, short cuts to the fulfillment of destiny further elongates it. Let’s look at two Bible characters that tried to apply short cuts to fulfilling destiny.
In Gen 25:23, we understood that a prophecy had gone ahead of Jacob: that his elder brother Esau would serve him. Jacob tried to hasten the fulfillment of this prophecy. He got Esau’s birthright and went ahead to receive Esau’s blessing. Then,it was not yet in the plan of God for Jacob to acquire Esau’s birthright and blessing.Consequently, hehad to run for his dear life to escape Esau’s wrath. He became a foreigner in another land and had to spend the next twenty years of his life in torments, that is, the torment of meeting Esau until he had an encounter with an angel who changed his name to Israel. There and then, God began to unfold His plan for him.
Moses had a destiny to fulfil. He was born to deliver Israel from the Egyptian taskmasters. This plan was to be implemented in God’s time but Moses tried to hasten his God-given purpose by killing an Egyptian in the process.Infact,Acts 7:25 says that “he supposed that his brethren understand that God was giving them deliverance by his hand, but they did not understand”. Moses understood that he was born to be a deliverer but he carried out that function when it was not yet in the mind of God for such event to take place.Consequently, he had to flee to Midian because of the fear of being killed. He started life afresh and spent another forty years of his life there thus elongating the plan of God for the Israelites. Moses learnt to move with God in His own timing in a bitter way. And at His appointed time, Moses had an encounter with God who now sent him to accomplish his God-given destiny.
Dear reader, never move out of God’s plan for your life. Do not attempt to hasten your future because he that tries to outrun God would suffer the consequences later and it might affect generations
