Alone in darkness feeling you’re about to die
Within your soul exploding a loud mournful cry
Screaming with your mouth and tears in your eye
In grief sorrow is overwhelming discovering why
Being led there by choice since all life born
And the choices shape a heart broken and torn
It’s raging in conflict between two sides sworn
An eternity struggles with choice shall adjourn
Chains link to sins slavery known all too well
Through life reaching for moments it will excel
Pushing you choose the sweet temptations compel
A stay over time appears a voice you can’t expel
Punishing and cruel with hatred he doesn’t sway
Without knowing Jesus you won’t survive the day
He’ll hit the ground angrily sweeping good away
Your heart hears the message to no longer delay
Getting to know Jesus throughout life said ignore
Life, love and His Word turn away from no more
When darkness covers you He’s right at the door
Calling out His name settles your internal war.
