I have two Scrabble boards.
One's a Deluxe Edition, and one's the standard version. The Deluxe Edition comes with a board with raised square edges that hold the tiles in, and a base that spins around for better visibility, plastic tile trays,a cloth drawstring tile bag, and burgundy tiles with painted-on letters.
The standard one, on the other hand, has a flat board, wooden trays, a plastic grey tile bag, and plain light brown wooden tiles with the letters burned in.
The problem was the tiles. The other features of the deluxe set looked great; the tiles that came with it were no exception. But due to the oils on our fingers (not to mention once we played and ate chips at the same time) the painted letters wore off. Rather than simply buy replacement tiles, we got the standard set. We use the best pieces from each set. The standard tiles, being burned in, would not wear off. They were a part of the tile itself.
In case you think I'm just rambling, let me ask you something; are your letters burned in? Will your faith wear away with time and trial, or is Jesus an ingrained part of who you are? What it comes down to is this; you may belong to a great church (deluxe set) or a good church (standard set). You may even belong to no church. But if your letters aren't burned in, it won't make a difference.
J-E-S-U-S. Don't just think about how high a score you can get, either. We've already won. We're playing on a team with God and anything we gain goes towards His score. His glory. His honor.
