There is a quiet for my soul
found in a cup of coffee, cream
and two sugars, or a good book,
or a blank piece of paper that
is waiting for ink words. Sometimes
there is a quiet for my soul
found on a walk in the woods, or
watching leaves fall in autumn, or
lying on soft grass, gazing up
at the stars and moon hung at night.
There is a quiet for my soul
while watching a sunset, or a
garden grow, or the soft, clean rain
against my window. As I watch
my daughter asleep in her bed,
there is a quiet for my soul.
