All Christians have at least one spiritual gift given by God's Holy Spirit. Young men, pray about, and make every effort to discover that gift. Ask God to show you what it is. It is one of those things that will help you get started correctly in your spiritual journey. Then over the course of your life it will help you fulfill your God given potential and do what God has designed you to do.
The Bible lists these Spirt manifestations in several passages: Exodus 31:2-6, and 35:34; I Corinthians 12:1-11 and 28-31; Romans 12:6-8, and Ephesians 4:11. (I purposely do not quote the references because I want you to get out the Word of God and read them for yourself.)
You can also read books on the subject and take spiritual gift inventories.
Do not depend upon your local church to help you identify and use your spiritual gift because many, not all, churches, sad to say, pretty much neglect this emphasis on gifts. Take it upon yourself to aggressively pursue this and seek out opportunities, in or outside of your local congregation.
A spiritual gift is totally different from a developed talent or training. It is just that: a gift. I will use my own life as an example.
I am a trained musician who has a degree in music. Music is not my gift; it is the result of years of experience and professional education. Did I have a natural bent toward it? Yes I did, but I still had to be trained.
Writing and speaking, on the other hand, are my gifts. I have never gone to school or taken a class in writing or speaking, but it has been confirmed to me by countless people that I am gifted in this area, and God is using it to impact people's lives around the world.
A spiritual gift is given by God to enable each individual believer to contribute to advancing God's Kingdom and building up the body of believers, in one's own unique way. Young Christian man, you are a valuable person in God's sight. He wants to use you to positively impact people's lives. Your spiritual gift is used in connection with your calling.
Pursue your giftedness. You will be glad you did. If you strongly desire to do something, others recognize it, and God blesses it, there is a good possibility that is your gift and calling. Start off small, offering whatever little you may have to God. Then let Him lead you step by step.
