Such a long wait; it was pregnant with hope
Though centuries passed and the waiting went on.
Messiah was coming, just as God spoke;
The promise failed not, though the waiting was long.
Such a deep darkness but pregnant with light,
A light that no shadows would ever defeat.
The deeper the darkness, the denser that night,
More radiant the light, the dawn more complete.
Such a young teenager, pregnant with – whom?
Embryonic Creator, Almighty contained
In a bundle of cells in the dark of a womb.
You may worship in wonder, but never explain.
And me – I am pregnant with destiny here,
Out of this union, my spirit with Yours.
Birthing a signpost whose message is clear,
Calling the world to heaven’s wide open doors.
