A soldier camped upon the plain, I wait
No longer will I pause or hesitate
Awaiting to be called to battle in this land
Patiently with the wet stone in my hand
Shod with the gospel of peace I march
Renewed when my spirit is parched
My steps are guided by His hands
With my faith in God, I boldly stand
Standing behind my shield of faith
I stand boldly for I know I am safe
From the fiery darts the enemy throws
With each victory my faith grows
I trust the Armor that I faithfully wear
My Armor is scarred but in good repair
Marred with marks of previous battles fought
Of His righteousness my breastplate is wrought
His Truth is belted upon my waist
Steadfast regardless of the enemies I face
Protected wholly against the devil's lies
I will not be fooled by his guise
Scraping the blade across the stone
again and again while the edge is honed
A warrior sharpening his sword
Ready to rush into battle for the Lord
His Holy Word of truth is double edged
Used to cut or against the enemy defend
As the war for souls is engaged
with righteous anger I am enraged
I know not when I will battle again
I stand ready to fight until the end
Until then I will continue to hone
By studying His Word, my wet stone
At the call I don my helm of salvation
I march forward without reservation
Battling against the enemies of the Lord
Against the deceiver our victory is assured
Brothers and Sisters,
I am going to share this one, but I feel it is not quite done. I have the vision of a soldier wearing the Armor of God sitting by a camp fire. He is sharpening his sword in preparation for the next battle. He is dirty and scarred from so many battle already fought, but he stands ready yet again to battle once more. The army is camped upon a plain, having battled up and down mountains and valleys.
I feel this poem touches on it, but does seem to have the impact I had hoped. I think this is a image of where I am. I know I have won and lost many battles over the years. I am beat up and tested. For a while I have been camped on a plain (a plateau as in my previous poem), recharging, renewing, and preparing for the coming battles. I feel that there is a big battle coming soon. I can almost feel it in the air. I know that I cannot battle this alone, and I know it is only through the Armor of God that I will be able to battle at all.
I hope this helps each of you prepare for the coming battle. Get into the Word of God, study His Word. That is the wet stone to sharpen your sword. God bless.

Spot on, Christian!!! You're not the only one with that very same vision. The battle for souls is ramping up as we draw ever near the finish line that Jesus crossed with race won at the Cross! We're just catching up as we run toward His Eternal embrace - bringing all we can with us by His grace. (Too, too much to share here; will reply by private message on FB...)
