James 4:14 states: “whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.”
I lost the presence of another church family member today. He was granted an early graduation! In Part One I bragged on him, how loving and talented he was, and I guess God decided to expand the wind section of His orchestra, for He called him home to be with Him. Of course, Bob was very talented in other fields as well, such as building bridges to connect our community with our church. Side by side with others he helped to build a gym, balance the books, pay the bills, participated in a long list of church events, and even kept his cool whenever he was on the receiving end of our pastor’s jokes!
His unconditional love for his church and his God was verified by a statement he made during his struggle. He had wished he had more time, for there were more things he wanted to accomplish. How ashamed I felt after hearing that. I think back of all the wasted opportunities in my past and reality shows me how little I have done for my Father in comparison to a dedicated, always active man such as Bob. But the story does not stop here!
Behind every great man is a great woman. I have heard that statement most of my life, and in this instance it still holds true. As this loving wife stood faithfully by his side till his escort of angels came to lead him through the Pearly Gates, the peace in her heart is from the assurance of seeing her lifes companion once again, when her Father deems it necessary to call her home as well. I remember sending them a thank you card, thanking them for being such a wonderful Christian example, an example of compassion, companionship, and unconditional love. Theirs was a relationship I could only hope and pray for in my life, that God would Bless me as graciously as He did them.
After all the jokes and pranks played on you, you got the last laugh Bob, you beat Kirk to glory!!
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
