God is love. That is His whole being. Today I was reading about the Lord’s Supper and what we practice in the church today as communion. It’s sometimes hard to really understand the symbolism behind the bread and the grape juice or wine, in the way that we partake of it today. The bread, which represents Christ’s body, comes from one piece that many partake of. As many churches now days just hand out pieces of already broken bread, it is hard to capture the real meaning of it coming from a single loaf for all to share. As is usually always explained when we remember this weekly or monthly, this is a symbol of Christ’s body broken for our sins so that we are free of our sin and can have a right relationship with God. This is huge! Sometimes, though it is overlooked how, like we remember with the piece that we take together, which comes from ONE loaf, given to many, Christ has given us part of His body! As He preached so often when He was here on earth, we are to give our bodies as sacrifices for Him! To be used by Him! In relationship with not just Him but the ones He loves and died for! This was the greatest example of love! For the bible says in John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this that he lay down his life for his friend”! His grace is meant to allow us to have the grace to love others the same way! Just something to ponder, but would you lay down your life for your friend? You can think about this in the literal sense or just in the practical sense of laying down your desires to be there for someone.
