Jeremiah 17:10 But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine all secret motives. I give all people their due rewards according to what their actions deserve.
One thing for sure, we can fool people and sometimes we may even deceive ourselves, but we cannot fool God.
I am reminded of the story in John about the Jewish leaders believing in Jesus secretly because they were too concerned about what men would think. They wanted to have men's approval and impress the Pharisees.
God knows when we have selfish or insincere intentions or unclean thoughts. He knows the very depths of our heart. He sees every prideful, vain, greedy, untrue intent, action, or attitude.
Lord, search my heart. Remove any thing that is not pleasing to you. Thoroughly sanctify me and keep my motives sincere and true. Give me clean hands and a pure heart. Let me not work or act just to impress men or gain men's approval. I want to be a good and faithful servant Lord. Help me think of that which is pure and holy and guide my steps according to Your will. Continue to mold me into a vessel that is pleasing unto You. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
