s Christians, we are all ambassadors. An ambassador is the highest ranking diplomat that represents a nation and is usually accredited to a foreign sovereign or government. Christians are ambassadors for a Kingdom. The Kingdom! We represent The Kingdom, not to sovereign nations, but to ever other person with who we come in contact. Each time with interact with anyone else, we present our credentials.
In international diplomacy it is customary for an ambassador to formally present their credentials. The ritual often involves reciting along litany of the history and position of the nation being represented, the leader of that nation and of the qualifications of the person serving as ambassador. After the initial exchange of credentials, every action of the ambassador is under scrutiny. The actions of the ambassador speak for not only the nation, but the leader of the nation he or she represents. Any misstep falls not only on the ambassador but also what is represented.
In our daily contact with others, the presentation of credentials is not as formal as in international diplomacy, but it is no less important. Via our words and actions, we represent God the Father, God the Son and the Kingdom of Heaven.
Fortunately, it is not required that we be able to quote great volumes of scripture (although there are times when that would be helpful). We show by our actions, our words, the majesty of what we represent.
So, my friends, sharpen up your credentials. You are an ambassador to the Kingdom of God!
Shalom,
