The room stands unmoved in hushed silence
as the one they call the Illusionist
is revealed as the curtain is drawn back
for the very first time
Knowing full well that many will only see trickery
he stands aloof until he sees a few familiar faces
and then he speaks
Doves fly above him
time loses itself in his words
Trees grow at his will and whither at his command
not a thought, feeling or emotion are hidden from him
surprised men, children and women
find themselves raised from the dead
And then he himself disappears
The crowds rush forward
as the authorities try to stop themselves
Princes, philosophers, and common alike
profess the impossibility of the supernatural
and laugh it off as a chimerical delusion
created by wires, trapdoors or some other imagined help
but none of that cannot be found
Only a few see the truth
They stand in awed amazement
at the one who overcame death
to save the bride he loved so much
who had been stolen from him
and had been held captive
But now lives freely with him in bliss
