I WANT TO BE LIKE MARY
Freelance writer Lupie Riley 1/2/12
The gospels tell the story of a very remarkable women and her choices. Mary, Martha's sister, demonstrated a pure form of humility through her actions. Three times in the New Testament she was found at the feet of Jesus, Luke 10:38-41, John 11:1-45, John 12:1-7. Her life revealed a woman who always made the right choice...to be with Jesus. "I want to be like Mary."
The Right Choice
Martha's angry and frustrated voice could be heard coming from the kitchen along with the rattling and banging of pot's and pan's.
"Mary, I sure could use your help in the kitchen. We need to prepare a meal for our guest."
Jesus had come for a visit.
Mary heard the desperate cries from her sister Martha but she said nothing.
She remained seated on the floor at the feet of Jesus.
Mary had made a choice.
She chose to feel the warm embrace of His presence as she clung to the hem of His robe.
She chose to take in the sweet fragrance of His Holy Righteousness
She chose to bask in the light of His countenance
She chose to hear His soft, tender voice as he taught her many things about life and Himself
Mary made the best choice of all....
She chose to be with Jesus
Mathew 11:29 LB
"Wear my yoke--for it fits perfectly--and let me teach you; for I am gentle and humble and you shall find rest for your souls; for I give you only light burdens."
