From different parts of the Bible I felt God saying to hear what He is saying.
It is crucial to hear what God says because that is what is going to happen. Also it keeps you on your own faith path. It stops your mind wandering and keeps you firm in your faith
When too muddled you need to hear from God and gain His and your perspective and strenthen faith.
The other option is to listen to and believe what the world is doing. That is a real evil, a huge distraction and like a destructive whirlwind. No good can come out of looking at what the world is saying.
God on the other hand is peaceful, enlivening and helpful.
One day the world had me in its grip for a while and I felt a bit put down. So I thought, "Why not hear what God has to say about me." Satan was trying to crush me. But God said, "Instead of your shame you shall have a double portion." Isaiah 61.7 What an opposite view. Instantly I felt at peace. If you believe the world you become dejected and despondent. Listen to God and your whole outlook changes immediately.
What a relief God is. He is on our side. Reading a bit more, "Every word of God proves true." Proverbs 30.5 God never lies. His words, prophecies are true. Satan is corrupt and not to be believed. He tries robbing your hope. God restores it.
It is a daily discipline. Hearing God's word. Even if Satan attacks during the day, I might say out loud, "Hear the word of the Lord." It tells me to listen only to what God is saying and doing, and ignore Satan completely.
