A Wonderful Dad

My father is like a good shepherd, who tends for his sheep
The love he has for God and others is very deep.
I miss those good ole' stories about when he was young
My dad on the church's piano singing his favorite song.

Saying that frightening quote, "I'll eat your butt up!"
Giving me the clue that it's time for me to shut up.
The talks with my dad made me feel grounded and secure
And I know his love for me shall always endure!

The words of wisdom I received as a child
Has stayed with me and kept me from being wild.
The peace and love always expressed on his face
No matter what time of day, my words he would embrace.

I honor and respect my father for the work he's done
He's made me who I am and I'm glad to be his son!
Even though distance, has kept us apart
Everything he has taught me, will remain in my heart.

The remorse I feel when my dad is not well;
Strengthens our relationship in every detail.
Whenever we talk, we never hold feelings back;
Cause he only does his best to keep me on the right track.

So, I'll cherish him dearly cause I never know when
I shall see his face or talk to him again.
My time with him is so precious, but seems short
All the lessons he's taught me, I'll never abort!
