4For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds – 2 Corinthians 10:4
Wars, rumors of wars, gossip, miscommunication, family disputes, marital wrangling’s, arguments, jealousies, rejections and lies all start somewhere. None of us are immune to them. Everyone is faced with these things, most often on a daily basis. But there is a choice to be made. Will you be a contributor to these things?
Have you ever heard the term, “It starts at home”? Most often we relate this term to some type of acting out or disciplinary issues that we see in children. We make judgments based on lack of parental control, child outbursts, temper tantrums or flat out fits. We make excuses for teenager’s detrimental choices because they came from “dysfunctional” families. Sadly, without intervention it can carry over, not only into adulthood, but generations to come.
If you are a Christian, this world is not your home, Philippians 3:20. The moment you gave your life to Christ, He made His home in your heart, Ephesians 3:17.
What is the problem then? If our home is not here, if Jesus’ home is in our hearts, why are we living in such chaos? Why are you battling yourself and those around you?
The devil knows something that you don’t. And I mean he knows it: he comprehends, understands, lives, breathes and utilizes it every chance he gets. And as long as he can keep you thinking outside of the spiritual realm, he knows he remains in control.
12For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere. – Ephesians 6:12
Why is this so difficult for us to grasp? We say our citizenship is elsewhere, we say Christ has made His home in our heart and yet we are walking around doing battle with ourselves, our neighbors, our coworkers, our children and even our families? How do we start living victoriously in a world we are aliens in?
5[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) 2 Corinthians 10:5
It starts at home! In you! Each and every opposition that the devil throws at you, use it to strengthen yourself spiritually. God’s Word cannot fail! It cannot return to Him void (empty)! It has to accomplish what He set it out to do! Isaiah 55:11
I am going to share something with you. All that money that you have just spent on Christmas was partially influenced by what you were hearing on commercials or from someone else who had unwittingly become a walking commercial.
Do you ever find yourself saying, “I am so sick of hearing that”? It could be a song you have heard for the umpteenth time or somebody bragging about that one awesome thing they did ten years ago, but you know what I mean. You probably make painstaking efforts to avoid that person at all costs. You have heard enough!
These Scriptures are so core and key in living a spiritually victorious life while in this physical world. The devil does not want you to grasp this concept!
He knows that he is defeated! He knows how the story ends! He just doesn’t want to end up there alone. And if he can’t take you with him, he is going to seize every opportunity to make your life a living hell, here on earth, as long as he can. But he can only do that, if you allow him to.
Memorize theses Scriptures! Every time the devil comes at you, be prepared in the Spirit! Take those thoughts that he throws at you, be it fear, poverty, sickness, divorce, addiction, whatever it may be, tell the Lord you are giving it to Him, leading it away captive into the obedience of Christ Jesus! You think the devil won’t get tired of hearing it? Try it!
Quit trying to fight a Spiritual battle in the physical. The weapons of our warfare are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds!
If it starts at home and home is where the heart is, it is time to show the world, both the spiritual and physical, WHO is seated on the throne and that He is at home!
