Servant King

He was there before it started, that's this world we love so well
When Father God said let 'us', make man so we can dwell
Among this new creation it all looks so good to me
Yet amidst all this perfection there's a very marked out tree.

The tree will grow like all the rest, its leaves will shine then fade
Its seed will fall into the ground, it's leaves give people shade
But from that seed will come a tree on which they'll lift you high
The price of sin will bring you low, so low that you will die.

Yes you are God, we three are one but it's you that must go down
For through your suffering broken folk will one day wear a crown
Give all this up become a man - a servant man at that
For there is no other way to cleanse, a dirty sinful heart.

So when the time had fully come the father send him down
Where would he come which kingdom, for one who wears a crown?
No not for him the fatherís plan will blow the minds of all
A little Jewish single girl has heard an angel call.

You'll be despised by all, as you bear the son of God
No human's ever carried such a precious heavy load
As out of wedlock it will seem this heavenly child is born
Then as you see him on the tree your heart from you'll be torn.

"O by the way dear mother! An angel came today!!!
As I stooped to draw the water these words I heard him say
You'll bear a child within the year he will be God's own son"
"No no, my daughter it can't be, you'll be the talk of town."

As prophesied it happened the Son of God came man
The virgin girl brought forth a son as part of father's plan
In spite of all the shameful talk this child at twelve years old
Amazed the Jewish rulers as from he bible he foretold.

That God would save his people, a messiah God would send
Not as the noble king they wanted but as the sinners friend
A servant king yes that's the thought it came from God above
A sinless life this king would live to demonstrate God's love.

For all his love the people would condemn this man to die
A cross between two robbers would hold the king on high
Total humiliation he experienced, as Pilate washed his hands
The whips tore him to pieces as his blood flowed in the sand.

This servant king was hurried off to be nailed to that tree
The pains of death were powerless had he wanted to go free
But no he came to do a duty he came for all to die
When every sin was paid for "It is finished" he did cry.

Father God was so delighted with the victory of his son
A name above all other names now adorns the victorious one
He decreed that one day in the not too distant future
The whole wide world will bow down, yes every single creature.

Yes every soul from ages past it is written in his word
Will confess the name of Jesus and the fact that he is Lord
This will please the father greatly as the people - his own bride
Are presented by the servant king to stand at fatherís side.

Davy, Your poem was beautiful! Such incredible love and mercy! We will never fathom how much it cost our Lord to save us until we get to see Him face to face. Beautifully told! Thank you!
