In George Orwell’s book 1984, we mostly think about “big brother” watching. That has certainly come to pass. We can’t go anywhere or do anything anymore it seems without being watched via cameras or our backgrounds being checked out via databases.
What we tend to forget about the book is that the world was divided into three major blocks of governmental power. These powers vied for dominance among themselves and were tyrannical over their people. If was a New world Order.
For decades we’ve been hearing about “A New World Order.” From the 1950′s until the Berlin wall fell and the Soviet Union disbanded we saw the world divided among the “Free World”, the Communist Block and the “3rd World.”
Today we have new “blocks” growing and developing. Some are based on economic collaboration, like NAFTA and the EEC. Others are based on religious/political unions such as the Organization of Islamic States.
None of these seems to be moving toward the New Kingdom of God. Not, unless, we see these things as the precursor to the Last Days.
In the Lord’s Prayer we say: “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done. On earth as it is in heaven.”
Under the Great Commission, Christians are commanded to spread the Good News. We do this in many ways. We evangelize. We support mission work throughout the world.
These things have little meaning unless we actually live as Jesus led us to live, forgiving, loving our neighbors and even our enemies.
We hear about living with a Biblical Worldview. Yet few of us have a clear picture of just what this means.
