Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called wonderful, counselor, the mighty God ,the everlasting father ,the prince of peace.
(Isaiah 9:6). The birth of Jesus Christ is a wonder that brought a light into the world of darkness and gloom. Christmas is a commemoration of that precious 'gem' that brought salvation and peace to the whole wide world. His birth is an elevation to the human race , a growth in her spirituality.
It repaired the link that was severed between us and the father , makes resurrection available for everyone of us when he died and rose on the third day and above all, he still stands as a mediator between us and the father. What a great joy and happiness we have in him!.
Christmas season brings joy and happiness, sharing, giving and excitement fills the air. It is a time where we remember friends, love ones, relatives and so on. We visit them, send cards and gifts to them. All these are some of the things done during this season. Apart from these, we can make the season great for those who are less privileged.
This can be done when we remember that someone came to give his life for us and follow in his footsteps, though we may not be able to give our life for someone, we can allow the air of Christmas to always linger in our life’s by showing our love and reaching out to put a smile on somebody's face this season.
Everyday is not Christmas, but we can have the 'air ' of Christmas around us daily if we want to. Those attitude we display during the season can be practiced everyday of our life’s if we so desire to and work towards it. A little 'taming' of the flesh and discipline is needed daily , with this, you can make someone feel the impact of the birth of the Saviour everyday of your life.
The significance of this season is for us to remember that someone came to give his life for us , examine how we've lived from the start of the year till this very period. Did we really follow his precepts ? If not, trying to retrace our steps back to his principles. It is not just a season for eating, drinking and merry making. It is a time for us to ruminate about his ideals and reach-out to people. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU
