Jesus’ Evangelistic Ministry

Hi, I thank God for allowing me to return to share His word with you guys. I’ve been waiting on God to tell me what to write because I’m always clueless to what He wants me to share. This is when we must seek Him to find out. I’m glad because it’s all about Him not me or my limited intelligence. I couldn’t even share what I’ve already shared on this web-site without His guidance.

Evangelism on the Highest Level

Paul pointed out that Jesus gave some to be Apostles, some Prophets, some EVANGELISTS, and some Pastors and Teachers; (Ephesians 4:11-13)

1. For the equipping of the saints v.12
2. For the work of the ministry v. 12
3. For the edifying of the Body of Christ v. 12
4. Until we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God v. 13
5. To a perfect man (or woman); Perfect- means mature in the greek v. 13
6. To the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ v. 13

Paul’s Point of Evangelism

I think these verses are self-explanatory in regards to the divine purpose, motive and intention of a true Evangelist who has God’s plan at heart. The 5 Ministry Gifts that Paul high-lighted are all called to do one thing to mature God’s people to become like Jesus Christ in all 5 offices or Ministries. Paul said that the purpose of an Apostle is to train God’s people to be like powerful Apostles like Jesus was. The same goes for all the other office’s the Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher.

Since we are still on the topic of an Evangelist; Paul said that an Evangelist’s duty is to build the Body of Christ to be effective ministers on the same level as Jesus was or Evangelize like Jesus.

So in other words, if you’ve been called by God to be an Evangelist then it’s your responsibility to grow to the full measure and statured of Jesus Christ, not Billy Graham or Yiye Avila or Smith Wigglesworth. We cannot try to measure up to them because this is not God’s purpose, plan and pursuit for our lives.

We can learn how God called them and used them but after we read all their books and studied the way God used them we must move on to the higher level of ministry and that’s the ministry of Jesus Christ (JESUS’ EVANGELISTIC MINISTRY). I have a high regard and respect for these three modern-day men of God but Jesus clearly told me to not be blown away (amazed) at their material and testimony, but to read and study how they got there. This revelation revolutionized my perception of how I’m to follow their ministries. To some people this may be common-biblical-sense, yet to others beware that you don’t over-idolize them.

Jesus Said It

Jesus told His disciples to train the following generation by teaching them all that He taught them (See Matthew 28:19-20). Paul added to it by pointing out what is the ministerial responsibility of the Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher and that is, to train believers to grow and mature to the level and statured of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 4:11-13). IN ALL THINGS- yes it means being a powerful EVANGELIST like Jesus Christ.

The Training Camp of God

In my previous articles, “Waiting on God Developing Ministry” and “Fasting and Waiting on God” I shared how God called, trained and moved Jesus to enter the Ministry and how God led Jesus during the course of His ministry on earth. If you read both articles and then come to this article you’ll notice that I’m building you up to a powerful point of How Jesus operated in the Evangelistic Ministry.

RECAP: Level’s of Waiting on God

I shared how God revealed to me that there several levels we must identify, understand and operate in to thoroughly enter into every phase of ministry that God will direct us to develop. There’s something to learn and experience on every level. God showed me that there are 4 level’s of waiting to be used by Him.

Level One: Waiting to receive a Sure Word- we experience this by reading the word and something may jump out at us from scripture declaring by revelation your particular calling. Also, by way of dreams, visions, an audible voice, an Angelic visitation or Jesus appearing to you to declare you’re calling.

Level Two: The Training Process- God will cause you to grow spiritually, obtain divine wisdom unlike religious leaders, and then increasing the measure of grace and faith in your life.

Level Three: Waiting and Entrance into the Ministry- Jesus knew His calling He was baptized by John the Baptist and the Holy Spirit came upon Him. But He did not move immediately into the Ministry. The Holy Spirit led Him into the wilderness too fast for 40 days and be tempted of the devil. After the training session Jesus passed with flying colors and entered the Evangelistic Ministry.

Level Four: Waiting to Minister- is a clear description of how a Man of God should seek the face of God at all times each and everyday to find out what is God’s next ministry mission.

Jesus’ Evangelistic Ministry

I shared that God will ultimately train you before you go out and encounter demons and devils. I shared how for several years I had dreams and visions with wicked evils spirits tormenting me while I was asleep; then how I saw them when I was awake in prayer and fasting in my room. I understand that it was God’s divine purpose to train me on how to deal with them. It was from 1993 thru 1998 that I had these experiences. However, for Jesus it was for 40 days with satan being tempted. If you read the previous articles I mentioned you’ll have a better handle of where I’m going with this article.

My Point Is

1. Jesus started out His Ministry by Fasting to be tempted and tried and to gain power to move into the calling of an Evangelist.

2. Jesus did not go immediately to teach or preach to gospel of the kingdom of God. It’s important that we catch a revelation of this point because we are always to seek God and be led by the Spirit of God for ministry.

Jesus was in Preparation

1. After John the Baptist proclaims Him as Messiah the Lamb of God (John 1:29-34)
2. Jesus picks up His first disciples (John 1:35-51)
3. Jesus turns water into wine at a wedding and only His disciples knew about the miracle (John 2:1-12)
4. Jesus clears the temple from the thieves that are selling live stock for sacrifices (John 2:12-25)
5. Nicodemus came to see Him by night then He teaches him about being Born-again(John 3:1-21)
6. John the Baptist tells more about Jesus and His purpose (John 3:22-36)
7. Herod places John in prison (John 3:18-20)
8. Jesus talks to the Samaritan woman (John 4:1-26)
9. Jesus tells His disciples about the spiritual harvest and few workers (John 4:27-38)
10. Then many Samaritans believed in Jesus (John 4:39-42)

Looking At Jesus’ Evangelistic Ministry

What most bible teachers leave out is how it all started. I walked you thru a chronological order of the gospels of the beginning of the preparation and ministry of Jesus without going into the actual power-pack ministry of Jesus when he started to teach and preach for a reason. The reason is we must wait and be led by the Holy Spirit to go full throttle into the Evangelist Gift.

Jesus had to be trained; then baptized by John; then go to fast for 40 days; then we read everything He went thru from 1 thru 10; after which He exploded on the scene as the powerful minister when He goes to Galilee (Matt.4:12-17/ Mark 1:14,15/ Luke 4:14,15/ John 4:43-45).
Ministers, preachers and bible teachers must be fully aware of this to learn the art of being a Man of God. Don’t jump ahead, don’t be hasty, Wait and be Led by the Spirit of God to be an Evangelist.

In my next article will look at Jesus’ Evangelistic Healing Ministry I will share a lot of scripture and testimony. So be ready to learn how to operate in this Ministry. May God bless you in Jesus name, amen.
