Birthday Party for Jesus
Dec 18, 2002
By Rick L King
Based on: Matthew 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth,
and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. KJV
If we were to have a birthday
And a party for us was thrown
We would get many gifts
As people out of their love for us, was shown
They may give us many things
So that a smile to us they would bring
They might even offer kind words
And to us a Birthday song, sing
We would be the guest of honor
As presents would be lain at our feet
Family and friends may say Happy Birthday
You are one year older, isn’t that really neat?
We throw a party for Jesus at Christmas time
Yet is He the honored guest?
We give presents to each other
Whose party is it anyway, who should get blessed?
Are the presents for Jesus?
Or are they to feed our selfish lust?
Where is the honored birthday guy?
Is He only under the Bibles dust?
Being that it is His birthday
Maybe we should take a look
And learn about the Savior
That’s been written in the book
That when we throw a party for Him
Our focus will hopefully change
As we become intimate with Jesus
It will be out of our love for Him, not just another name.
