Where eating with unwashed hands and failure to maintain cleanliness may lead to being out casted from elite groups, a life with only external cleanliness and inward filth may lead to being refused a place in heaven and suffer in hell for eternity.
More than anything else, what God is concerned is "what is it that actually defiles a person?"
" For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man." Mark 7:21-23 (NKJV)
Watching the news channel, amongst our group of friends, our colleagues at work and from various other sources, we know of people who even though may live a poshed aristocratic life, however are corrupt within, they are deep into sin and corruption and their inner life is filled with all the filth of the world.
People who visibly do sin and lead a corrupt public life and hypocrites who even though pose to be very pious, however secretly within their hearts harbour and nourish hell are same before God, defiled from within and heading towards hell.
No one would know our heart except we ourselves and God and thus we need to decide right now what will be in store our hearts today.
A pure heart and one with harmony with God is always happy and hopeful, is blessed and also blesses others.
How can we get to this blessed position of acquiring a clean heart?
“ Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the LORD,
“ Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool. " Isaiah 1:18 (NKJV)
If only we desire and let God do it in our life, we too could receive the blessedness of a pure, holy heart and be clean within.
Remember !!! It is highly important that we set right our inner person and hold him/her clean, for to stand before the Lord and be approved by Him there is no other criteria than a pure and holy soul which God offers to give us right now.
