ITS TIME FOR A COME BACK
In 2001when I was still a university student I missed a great fight between Lennox Lewis and Hasim Rahman. It was when I watched the news that I learnt Lennox Lewis had lost the heavy weight championship title to Hasim. I like what Lennox Lewis said when interviewed he said he was looking for a rematch of that fight again.
For today’s discussion I would like you to consider your life as a boxing match fight. You are in the middle of the ring; you are in the middle of a fight. During a boxing match the champion leaves the belt outside the ring in the custody of the match commissioners to put it on whoever wins the match. When you are in the ring you are a potential winner because at that time the championship belt does not belong to anybody.
No matter how many blows you receive you retaliate with an upper cut until we see one last man or woman standing. But if you happen to fall, I love this; rematch! The fight you lost does not hold your fate because you can still come back again; for a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again (Proverbs 24:16).
How many times did you lose and you threw in the towel; not even twice, not even thrice. The bible says you may lose for seven consecutive times but you come back again. Remember what they say “Quitters never win and winners never quit”. Do you want to win? - Don’t quit, come back again!
Lennox Lewis lost his fight in the fifth round but during the rematch he won back his heavy weight title in the fourth round. That was a comeback. What really matters is not the start of a thing but the end of it. He got his championship belt faster than he had lost it.
I urge you not to throw in the towel yet. Whatever you have been struggling with and every time you lost, come back again for it, trust the Lord for victory. The race is not for the swift and the battle is not for the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favour to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all (Ecclesiastes 9:11). The determining factor is time. You don’t know maybe your time hasn’t come yet. Though your success may seem to delay, it will come at the appointed time, keep hoping, keep working and keep waiting.
My time could be on the seventh attempt and your time could be on the seven hundred and seventy seventh time. You don’t know maybe the time you thought you had lost and quit you were left with just one last corner where your victory was laid. Do not let go that easily.
May this article bring hope to your life in Jesus name. I pray that the spirit of perseverance and an overcomer’s heart be revived in you. You are set to win no matter what; you are far from being a loser.
