Child of God, filled with much pride
Thought life was easy, a free ride
Always on Sunday, his speech was right
But others around him, knew he wasn’t bright
Gifted and talented, yet strongholds in the flesh
Wove a web of deception, tight as fine mess
People were praying, and sowing their seed
Little did I know, I had great needs
A woman I was given, and she was tough
Helped me see the light, despite how rough
Through life I attended, the school of hard knocks
Like a great ship, defeated upon the rocks
Often a dreamer, great things hoped for
Obedience and wisdom, to discover what’s in store
Quiet is the place, to meditate and talk
Open are my ears when with Christ, we take a walk
Easy is the day, when I don’t know it all
So I ask myself – do I answer the call?
A challenge is waiting, so be at your best
Run the good race and then you can rest
