At the age of 12, I had my first connection with God in a way I never connected before. That was perhaps the highlight of my spiritual life. I read bible continously at the time, and at some point I began praying "Lord, I know the adult version of mine will never be as appreciative, and as dependant with you like I am today. Please forgive him, and please keep him safe and make his dreams come true"
I remember word for word. Till this day, I think that kid was right. I am still close to my God, but haven't come close to as being heard and spirituall overjoyed as that little kid.
Children, in my opinion, perhaps because of the lack of adult responsibilities or just because they just see the world the way it is, without any judgement goggles, they tend to be spiritually matured than most adults are. In my experience,
I can't be more sure. With time, the adult day to day life tends to decrease once quality view on the world, and spiritual life.
There is of course a lot we can do as adults that can help us reconnect with that wise child inside. Maintaining honesty gives oneself the chance to get rid of bad self images, and perhaps lead to a more satisfying journey. Staying close to God by reading the bible, listening to spiritual songs, and listening to sermons are also great wasy of spiritual satisfaction. As an Ethiopian of course, I have listened to several mezmur as thousands of others. Perhaps, if you speak different languages, you will find spiritual songs in your language including Arabic, a language which is redominantly used by Moslems.
Let me just close this article with this. Jesus is always beside you. He never expects you to be perfect. Keep as close to him as possible, and you will see your life getting easier and easier with time, and your problems vanish.
