Radio programs, television, online sermons, devotionals, reading material in your email and regular mail, all designed to speak to you about God; how to have faith, give, love, walk, serve, etc. But when you turn off the radio, or put down the book, how many of us truly do what we just learned? We agree with most everything just received; but then what? We walk around the corner, see our mate or child doing something disagreeable and get angry. Or maybe not, perhaps you walk in the knowledge for a day or so, reminding yourself of the word that touched your heart.
But is that really seeking God? Are we putting sermon notes and strong preachers in front of truly seeking with our whole hearts?
How many of us take the sermon notes and flip to the passage of Scripture referenced to read in context? How often do we meditate in God’s word alone, without another man’s point of view and just say, “God, what are you telling me right now, today?”
We must take the word of God every day, not mixed with opinion or another person’s faith. The word says, “You will seek me and you shall find me, when you search for me with ALL YOUR heart.” Turn off the radio in the car, and talk to or praise Him.
How often do we read other prayers or devotionals, that really have not much to do with ‘our today’?
Which of us takes a moment to stand before God in the morning and cry out, “Lord, I am nothing if I don’t have you, please manifest yourself to me; give me the mind of Christ that I don’t err in my ways. Help me hear only your voice and not the confusion of the world or fall for the tricks of satan’s minions”?
Try it and then wait quietly for Him to drop a word in your heart to read for your true “daily bread of life.” Don’t think of it, let Him give it to you and go with the first answer. Many times I think, “He can’t mean that, He gave that to me a few days ago.” But upon reading it, the message is new and clear for THAT day.
God’s word is alive; it is truly quick and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, dividing soul and spirit even to the joints and marrow of the bones. What does that mean?
A two-edged ‘word’ is able to slice through sin for conviction, and on the way back through encourage you to righteousness. God will not leave you on the ground crying, His word will pick you up and tell you of His love, and show you that it is necessary to spank His children, or you will lose your rewards in eternity. He will show you that you can make it.
Press in to Him; be aware of the darkness that will try to keep you from His loving word. The closer you get to Him, the clearer the warnings. You can quickly call on the blood of Jesus for protection, rebuke that spirit in Jesus’ name and call the glory of God into your atmosphere and you will instantly feel the change.
Every day is new, you will feel on top one day and another day may bring trouble. You must press in every day. The more you do, the higher Jesus will take you in spiritual understanding and revelation.
Don’t look at the natural, get into His word and see yourself in there. Revelations speaks of a glorious light kingdom, with a pure river of life proceeding from God’s throne. See yourself standing in that river, with the healing trees beside you at your disposal. See the great train of God in front of you; see the Crystal Sea, and golden transparent streets. See the angels glorify Him and enter into the praise. You fascinate the angels, because they were never saved. They were created for the office they perform. We choose to sing and glorify Him. And when you do, the angels join in such amazement with you, and you will feel the Glory of God inhabit your praise, you suddenly realize you are not alone.
Can you see how easy it is to get a new vision? This is just a start.
Turn off the noise.
If you have time to read a devotional, then you have time to ask God, “What do you want to say to me from your word today Holy Father?” Then listen. You will be amazed and encouraged every day. Sometimes he will speak to you about an attitude of rebellion you must abolish within you. So, get ready to be obedient and get cleaned up. The kingdom He is preparing you for is for those who truly loved Him on earth.
Don’t take the chance that He might say, “I never knew you.”
Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
Take His loving hand, and walk in the light of His Glory. Don’t see grass under your feet, you are a kingdom citizen with His eternal spirit. You walk God’s highway.
