“There is no agony like bearing an untold story inside of you.” A quote by Maya Angelou.
Is there a burning desire to write a story that lives deep inside of you? Pray about it. Question your motives for sharing your story.
The Bible tells the stories of human lives, warts and all. The Bible is full of stories about the human condition and the God condition.
Think about your story. Write about your story. Reflect on your story. Pray about your story. Write your story.
Living Calendars (a poem by Melissa)
Seconds tic-tock away as
minutes slip into hours
and join hands with days
until weeks and months
rendezvous with years.
Years amalgamate into decades
and roll into centuries.
The squares on our calendars
pass slowly and pass quickly
depending upon moments
of pain or pleasure.
Main events are etched in
diplomas, vows, cribs,
silver bells, gold watches, eulogies.
Each person is a living calendar.
How we spend our days is, of course, How we spend our lives. A quote by Anne Dillard.
Moments (a poem by Melissa)
Seconds and minutes,
Creating moments in time.
Memories strung together,
Defining life’s events.
Births and deaths,
With biographies in-between.
Unforgettable happenings,
Etched into memories.
Special occasions,
Remembered with souvenirs.
Photo albums and videos,
Capturing moments.
Weddings and births,
Rejoicing moments.
Daily occurrences,
Connecting lifelines.
Triumphs and tragedies,
Fleeting moments.
Sickness and funerals,
Grieving moments.
Overcoming trials,
Courageous moments.
Peace and war,
Experiencing moments in history.
Beginnings and endings,
Circle of moments.
Those who do not have the power over the story that dominates their lives—the power to retell it, rethink it, deconstruct it, joke about it and change it as times change—truly are powerless, because they cannot think new thoughts. A quote by Salman Rushdie.
