Roaming a Life

I’ve watched her roam in the dark
most of my life. She towed me
along in her bleakest moments, pillar
to post, one city to the next.

She was never alone, my father
helped her journey. He had his
own pain - China White. I look
nothing like him.

Together, they taught me what
they knew. I learned every crevice,
knew every scent. I took my inherited
place in this space.

I existed a long time, God only
knows how. Deliverance came like
a Hanged Man card; a tedious process.
My eyes flowed and my faith swelled.

Today, I live in the world He
designed for me. My journey is
not complete, but progress is steady.
My heart laughs, and my faith grows.

She still roams in the darkness.
