If you want to find life
Then give yours away
Help another in need
And you will be living, God’s way
Satan tried to tempt Jesus
He tried to throw him a curve
He said the whole world he would give him
If only him would he serve
Yet Jesus knew the truth
So this lie he did receive
Life was not in what He possessed
So God’s truth, He only would believe
Satan still tries to tempt each one
Our flesh he wants to feed
Yet in the flesh, we can never please God
It is our spirit we must learn, to heed
The spirit alone gives to us life
And will give to us joy without measure
When we get this revelation
God’s ways will become our treasure
When we lose our life we find it
Satan wants us to focus only on our self
Yet life comes when we give it away
So we must put our want or need on the shelf
When we give, it is given back
Back to us it will surely come
The greatest joy in our life
Is when we actually help someone
If Jesus had made it only about him
A Savior we would have never known
Because He would have served himself
Our sin would never have been atoned
What Jesus did was our example
He made his life about others
So instead of living for self and your wants
Why not help your sisters and brothers?
If you need a friend
Then give friendship away
If you need love
Show love each day
If you need provision
Find another in need
Give to them your best
Go plant some seed
If you want a ministry
Then learn how to serve
Don’t make it about you
Or you’ll get what you deserve
Life comes when we learn to give
When we lose our life we can then say
We have become more like Jesus
As our purpose in life is, to just give it away.
