Lily Tilahun is a gospel singer from Ethiopia. In an interview with a radio station, she says when she was a young adult "... now when I think of it, I was more in love with my religion than God" She says she always talked about the religion, and she never knew how she could get connect herself with God. She also remembers how she never connected with God as a child with God, instead she was following the Orthodox religion of praying to his apostels. She says she then learned accepted the truth.
She says she has prevailed in her love to God, and no more in the religion. She also notes her life has changed completely. Jesus is given to everyone, she underscores, but it depends on how people accept it - by comparing it to a book as a gift which one opens and reads, the other one accepts it but never reads it, and the third rejects it all. "The more I read it", she says "the more I learned to love God, and got closer to God. I learned the nature of God's love and nature. ... God is trusted and no one can replace him on earth. I learned to get closer to God."
Her advice is for us all to learn to open our books and read. You can find Lily Tilahun's spiritual songs here: You can also find other gospel songs from Ethiopia here.
