My Pastor Fell

My pastor fell by the road today
He wasnít aware what an impact it would be
Surely he knew what some would say
Surely he knew that God would see

The road is life and it is traveled well
So strong in opinion and belief
So close to God as far as I could tell
The news came without relief

Some turned against him whole
Question their motives do I
Question to whom they gave their soul
No need of an eye for an eye

My pastor is human and is of the flesh without
Mistakes he makes like so many
Only God need he worry about
God forgives sin and can forgive any

My pastor fell by the road today
I donít think he would have chosen this to be
What people would remember for the coming day
Oh how people see what they want to see

I pray for my pastor and the mistake he made
A good man he is, of this I am sure
No matter how the story ends up being played
Embarrassment shall my pastor endure

I pray that God give him strength to stand tall
For people put their pastor up too high
Setting him up for that great fall
Alas then when it draws nigh

They retreat only to talk
About the action of guilt and shame
Not walking the walk
But passing out the blame

When a fellow Christian falls
Lift them up, as does a soldier
Do not build up the walls
Making your defenses bolder

My pastor fell by the road today
I donít think he knew what the impact would be
Surely he knew what some would say
I know he knew that God would see

Though some of the flow of the verse seemed a bit "Off Key", the message content was clear and thought provoking. Mush is expected(At times demanded) by many from A pastor. Peter denied Christ three times. Paul persecuted and put many c/hristians to death. They were forgiven by Christ. you got that essential Christian ground of being across quite well. You deliberate lack of comdemnation was inspirational. I would only recommend a verse/line that expressed some personal connection with the Pastor in his brokeness for he seems left all alone in his time of tribulation. Keep writing! :-) Peace

Very good poem. It is well thought out and is not condemning. I liked the fact that you brought out that not only is a pastor responsible for his actions, but that a congregation is responsible for their reactions. Good job.

[For people put their pastor up too high] Indeed they do. This piece is a VERY good reminder that people fall down in their walk with the LORD. Even the best among us can have a weak moment in their life. We just have to get back up and on track (God's track that is). Thanks for posting this. God Bless. Sincerely, Dan Blankenship www.therunninggirl.com
