Scripture: Psalm 61:2-3 From the ends of the earth I call unto you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. NIV
We have witnessed daily sagas of dog vs. cat for most of our married lives. Our furry “children” do not always get along. After several intense battles, territories were divided: our dog rules the front porch, while the cats claim the back porch as home. As my cat Minnie became the mother of frequent litters, the battle lines intensified. This kitty was an out of the box thinker. Believing her brood would not be safe anywhere on the porch or the ground, she created a unique solution. Being a natural climber, she took her kittens, one by one, up to a flat portion of the roof, nestled under the shed which covered our porch. From this view, she was able to see a much greater distance while keeping the helpless kittens safe.
We can look to heaven whenever we need help or protection. By bringing our situation or loved ones to Jesus, we can find peace and security nestled in His loving arms. We gain a greater perspective as we climb above our circumstances. He will keep a watchful eye over us, alerting us to any dangerous threats. We can trust Him, since He sees danger long before it reaches our doors. We can dwell safely in peace.
