'Tis a month before Christmas and all through the town,
the sounds of the season are going around.
Decorations ablaze and merchants are stirring,
traffic a mess, cash registers whirring.
TV is shouting out gifts we should buy,
as well as fads, foods, and fun things we must try.
"Please spend all your money and go into debt!
Haven't you made out your Christmas list yet?
Santa, we love you, red cheeks, beard of gray,
but please take a back seat to Jesus, we pray.
He and He only can make our hearts soar!
He gives us the gifts of love, peace, and joy!
He was given by God, the ultimate gift
of salvation, forgiveness. Oh, what lift!
He gives us direction and meaning in life,
all free of charge, absent of strife.
He takes all our sins and worries away,
in hope by His side we always will stay.
So Santa, remember when passing out toys
all over the world to all girls and boys,
To the greatest of all gifts, praises let's sing,
to God's gift to us, Jesus the King!
