AND GOD SAID, "LET THE WATER TEEM WITH LIVING CREATURES, AND LET BIRDS FLY ABOVE THE EARTH ACROSS THE EXPANSE OF THE SKY." SO GOD CREATED THE GREAT CREATURES OF THE SEA AND EVERY LIVING AND MOVING THING WITH WHICH THE WATER TEEMS, ACCORDING TO THEIR KNIDS, AND EVERY WINGED BIRD ACCORDING TO ITS KIND. AND GOD SAW THAT IT WAS GOOD. GOD BLESSED THEM AND SAID, "BE FRUITFUL AND INCREASE IN NUMBER AND FILL THE WATER IN THE SEAS, AND LET THE BIRDS INCREASE ON THE EARTH." AND THERE WAS EVENING, AND THERE WAS MORNING-THE FIFTH DAY.
Now that God had provided light, a water cycle, abundant plant life, breathable air, and lights to govern biological clocks, it was now time to introduce a new wonder, advanced animal life.
The Hebrew nouns for the different kinds of animals is sheres, nephesh, and op. Sheres refers to the swarms of small or minute animals.
This Genesis passage mentions only water dwelling sheres and does not specify which kinds of sheres appeared in the water on this fifth day.
It goes on to introduce some animal species that are different from any previously mentioned. These creatures are identified by the Hebrew word nephesh. It means soulish creature; person; mind; land-creature with the breath of life; capable of expressing emotions and passions and will.
The verb "bara" is used for only the second time in Genesis. It was used the first time in Genesis 1:1. It means to "create something new" and it always has God as its subject. God created the heavens and the Earth "NEW" out of non-existant resources.
The term "bara" could mean that God was creating something entirely new which was advanced life forms that were "soulish" creatures. Soulish means that these creatures showed mind, will, and emotions. God created the physical bodies out of existing resources and the soulish part was entirely brand new to creation.
Birds and mammals have the unique ability to form relationships with each other and with humans. They can form emotional bonds with humans.
Once again the term is used "according to their kinds..." All evidence shows that animals may change and adapt within a species but there is no evidence that shows any animals CHANGING to a different species altogether. All living creatures reproduce "according to their kinds." Once again scripture is shown to be right.
God created the Earth to be inhabited because He gives the command to "...be fruitful and increase in number."
Science also shows that the first advanced life forms were in the ocean. Again, the order of events in Genesis is right on track and we can trust it completely!
