Imagine you decided to take a 4 day rafting trip down the Colorado River. You were told it was a dramatic trip, but you were committed. Once you started through the canyon there was no way out except down river. There are some extremely turbulent places, all of a sudden you drop 40 vertical feet in a distance of 100 feet.
Over the roaring sound of the rapids, you hear the Guide tell you to hold on. At the worst possible time the raft turns sideways, your thinking your going to die, you are ready to jump overboard when you look back and see that the Guide turned the raft sideways for a reason, there are jagged rocks sticking up out of the water.
When you feel your life is in turbulent waters, getting ready to go over the falls. Resist jumping overboard. God has a reason for turning your raft sideways.
Psalm 37 tells us to be still and know He is God and He will deliver us. Back in verse 4 it tells us that we are to delight ourselves in the Lord and He will give us the desires of our heart. Is it your desire to get out of those turbulent waters? If we delight ourselves in the Lord by spending time with Him we will get to know Him and the things that He loves. God then can show us our situation from His perspective
So hang on and seek the desires of God’s heart and you will know why your raft has turned sideways.
